The Transport Workers Union (TWU) represents workers in transportation industries, including aviation, transit, and rail. While the TWU is not a military union, TWU Locals sometimes represent civilian workers who are employed on military bases or in military-related transportation roles (like aircraft maintenance, logistics, or base transportation services).
We had the opportunity to craft a challenge coin for the Veterans Committee of the TWU Local 575 DFW – LAX. This is a local chapter of the Transport Workers Union of America (TWU) — and Local 575 represents employees working for American Airlines, particularly in-flight crew members like flight attendants, based out of DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth) and servicing routes like LAX (Los Angeles).
They wanted the design to be elegant and prestigious. Using bold, shiny colors such as gold for the base material of the coin, and some classic decorations like the rope pattern on the rims, and a sculpted image of the US military vehicles, such as aircraft carrier, jet fighter, and tank on one side of the coin, and the images of Texas state and California state maps on the other.
You can see in the photos that those images and decorations were accurately engraved by our high-tech machinery. The small letterings were nicely carved and still readable, although it’s quite petite in size. The coin’s surfaces were also finished with a brushed look, which makes the brass colored metal look elegant and classical.
We will do our best to turn your designs and concepts into reality. Reach us now at Embleholics if you want to use your design, or you can also have our talented team of designers to create one for you from scratch.
