Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), is a proprietary department of the City of Los Angeles and owns and operates three airports, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Ontario International Airport (ONT), and Van Nuys general aviation airport (VNY). LAWA also owns and manages aviation-related property near the Palmdale Regional Airport (PMD).
LAWA was established in 1928 as the Los Angeles Department of Airports for the purpose of operating Los Angeles Municipal Airport, now known as Los Angeles International Airport or simply LAX. The Department of Airports changed its name to Los Angeles World Airports in 1997. The authority’s headquarters are on the grounds of LAX in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Westchester.
They commissioned the production of a custom challenge coin for us, and this is one of the most beautiful challenge coins we have ever built. While the design concept was unsophisticated and classical, the colors, details, and other elements on the coin all go in harmony and created this wonderful image and vibe.
The base material for the coin was a brushed brass-colored metal, and on the edge of the coin, we applied an etched pattern encircling the main design in the middle. The front side was engraved with the LAWA logo, and on the back side, we put an image of LAX airport, and also a map of the word.
