About This Homeland Security Challenge Coin
This coin was designed for a specific Department of Homeland Security program, built around that office’s own identity rather than a generic template.
The customer came to us with much of the concept already developed, and our team carried it through to a finished design, refining the layout and finishing details while staying true to the original idea.
Design and Craftsmanship
The coin uses an unconventional Pentagon-shaped layout, a less common choice that immediately sets it apart from the standard round or shield-shaped coins seen across most federal and military collections.
Text and color work are carefully positioned within its five-sided form to keep the design balanced and legible at a glance.
On the reverse, a dimensional American flag rendered in an antique silver finish gives the piece real depth.
Raised and recessed detailing creates the look of the flag waving across the coin’s surface, adding texture and visual interest without overwhelming the surrounding lettering. The finish and detail work keep the coin distinctive while still reading as professional and understated.
