CJTF-HOA Information Operations Challenge Coin

CJTF-HOA is the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa, a component of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM). It’s headquartered at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, the only permanent U.S. military base in Africa. Its mission is to conduct operations aimed at enhancing partner-nation capacity, promoting regional security and stability, dissuading conflict, and protecting U.S. and coalition interests, and its area of operations covers numerous East African and nearby countries.

CJTF-HOA’s “Information Operations (IO)” is the coordinated activities aimed at shaping the information environment—including influencing perceptions, managing communications, and controlling narratives—to support military objectives. CJTF-HOA has used Information Engagement, a specific IO task, as a key strategy to “win the War on Terror” in the region.

We were assigned to craft them an extraordinary custom challenge coin with some gorgeous artwork engraved on the surface of the coin. On one side, the coin has only the insignia of the ‘Information Operations’ embossed on the center of the field, with a circuit board pattern as the background. The other side has an illustration of a wizard and the planet Earth, handsomely carved and painted.

You can see the level of detail we achieved for this gorgeous coin in the photos. The image of the wizard, with both hands holding a torch and planet Earth, and a raven standing on his arm, is gorgeously embossed and painted by our state-of-the-art machinery in our production workshop. All the tiny details were flawlessly carved and colored.
