Vector files are ideal: AI, EPS, SVG or a vector PDF. You do not need any of them to get a quote or to place an order, because our artists rebuild the artwork for the die regardless of what you send.
Formats in order of usefulness:
- Vector (AI, EPS, SVG, vector PDF): scales cleanly and maps directly to die line work
- High-resolution raster (PNG, TIFF, JPG at 300dpi or better): redrawn, but a clean source saves a revision round
- Low-resolution images, screenshots, photos: workable as reference, and our artists rebuild from them
- A sketch on paper, or a written description: genuinely enough to start
This matters less than most suppliers imply. A coin die is not printed from your file. It is engraved from line work our artists prepare, so your file is a reference rather than the thing that gets manufactured. A unit with nothing but a photo of a patch is in the same position as one with a full brand kit.
What does help: send any wording that must appear exactly as written, including ranks, dates, hull numbers and unit designations, as text rather than only inside an image.
Artwork and unlimited revisions are free, and you approve a digital proof before anything is made.
