Medical Transient Detachment is a unit in the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. LRMC is the only American College of Surgeons verified Level II Trauma Center outside the United States. LRMC is also the evacuation and treatment center for all injured U.S. Service Members and civilians, as well as members of 56 Coalition Forces serving across four combatant commands and three continents.
The mission of Medical Transient Detachment (MTD) is to provide company-level mission command, administrative and logistical support, and quality of life needs to the evacuated wounded, ill, and injured service members of LRMC and medically TDY outpatients and all we are privileged to serve.
The MTD is the only unit of its kind within the Army inventory. They are responsible for facilitating the advanced inpatient treatment of wounded warriors as well as the intensive outpatient care for injured and ill personnel across all branches of service coming to LRMC from four different combatant commands.
They asked us to build something out of ordinary for their custom challenge coin. Instead of just round-shaped like a normal coin, they wanted it to shape like a Medicine staff in the middle of crossed rifles. All the engraved elements, insignias, and inscriptions make the final design of this coin to be wonderful.
