Yes. Challenge coins can be numbered or serialised. Individual numbers, names, dates and other variable information can be added where the design allows it, and additional costs may apply depending on the method and quantity.
Serialisation is a real request rather than an edge case. It suits:
- Limited runs, where “12 of 100” is part of what makes the coin worth keeping
- Commemorative editions marking an anniversary or a single event
- Coins issued to named individuals, such as award or initiation coins
- Accountable issue, where a command tracks which coin went to whom
A number struck into the die is identical on every coin, so sequential numbering is handled as variable information added after the main production run rather than as part of the die itself. That is the reason it can carry an extra cost.
The design point worth knowing: leave a deliberate space for the number. A panel, a ribbon, a band around the edge or a clear area on the reverse all work, and a planned space looks intentional in a way that a number squeezed into a gap does not. It also keeps your options open if you have not decided on the numbering format when the order is placed.
Tell us the format you want when you enquire, and we will price it against your quantity.
