Yes. A name, rank, retirement date, years of service, unit history or any other detail can be included on a retirement coin. Where one set of details applies across the whole run, it is struck into the die like any other text and costs nothing extra.

Retirement and promotion coins are one of the most common reasons people order, and they tend to carry more text than a standard unit coin. What typically appears:

  • Front: the unit crest, department badge or organisational insignia
  • Reverse: the individual’s name and rank, dates of service, and often a short line of recognition

Details worth getting right at the proof stage, because the die is cut from what you approve:

  • Rank abbreviation and format. Services differ, and so do preferences. Check it with someone who knows.
  • Dates. Enlistment and retirement dates, or a span of years, are the single most common thing people want corrected after the fact.
  • Spelling of the name. Obvious, and still the most frequent error we catch at proof.

If the coin is going to a group of retirees rather than one person, individual names can vary coin to coin at additional cost.
